Scott Norris construction deserves more than 5 stars. My husband and I had been dreaming of building our lake home in Interlochen for close to a decade. It was the single largest investment in our lives and we had all kinds of anxiety about bringing our dream to life. After kicking off a request for proposals, and speaking to a number of recommended local builders, Scott and his team made us feel comfortable and confident from the very first call. Scott’s prices were competitive and fair, and the build quality, communication and attention to detail were SUPERB. Throughout the build, a number of Scott’s employees shared with us how lucky they felt to be a part of the Scott Norris team and that appreciation showed up in every bit of the project. Scott Norris Construction built our custom lakeside cabin in Lake Ann, Michigan in 2022-2023. When we chose Scott for this project, we were impressed by his years of experience building houses in northern Michigan and by the quality workmanship found in his beautiful homes featured annually in the Traverse City Parade of Homes. Our vision was to build a rustic home with modern amenities, so we utilized Scott’s expertise in timber frame construction.

It was a pleasure to work with Scott and his entire team throughout the building process. Scott is honest, trustworthy, down-to-earth, knowledgeable, responsive to calls, and a clear communicator. He provided a detailed calendar and explicitly described the cost of each task, which made the entire project as predictable as possible. Whenever an occasional problem or challenge arose, Scott was unperturbed and clever in finding solutions. Scott personally worked with us throughout the process, from siting the building on the lot to leading the final walk-through. He made the project a collaborative effort; he was open to our better ideas and gently steered us away from our bad ones.

Scott’s dedicated crew always demonstrated attention to detail, quality craftsmanship and pride in what they do. They were informative and friendly. His design coordinator spent endless hours patiently guiding us through the selection of the numerous interior finishes for the home. As a result of Scott’s creativity, we enjoy features such as stunning timber trusses, an open wood staircase with decorative metal straps on the posts, custom cabinets, rounded wall corners, and hand-hewn bunk beds and fireplace mantel.

The home is truly beautiful, and we will enjoy it with our family for many years. We can confidently and enthusiastically recommend Scott Norris Construction for your building project.

Scott Norris and his crew are outstanding, trustworthy homebuilders. The level of quality, knowledge, creativity and attention to detail was beyond anything we could have imagined. Equally importantly, the whole team was pleasant, responsive and hardworking. Interacting with them was a real pleasure. We built our home during the challenges of the pandemic and Scott helped us navigate to good solutions. We love our home and often talk about how well it suits us and our guests. Scott, Rick and the crew did a tear down and rebuild of our 1974 cottage. Since we don’t live in the TC area we needed someone that we could depend on and Scott Norris Construction came through for us. We rebuilt in 2019 and we are now 5 years later and everything still looks like new. If I needed help with any little fix since completion one phone call to Rick and it gets done. I have had a number of custom builds over the years and I can say that Scott Norris Construction has been the best experience I have ever had. This is based on collaborating with us to bring our concept to an actual blueprint, cost not changing from the original quote, and extra torches that were added that I did not think of. Additionally, the crew was great to work with when we showed up on site to ask questions and look at the progress.

All in all I feel fortunate to have worked with the Scott Norris team and still work with them today as we add additions.

We engaged the services of Scott Norris in 2021 for the design and construction of a home in downtown Traverse City. All aspects of the process from initial discussions to creation and adjustment of plans to the demolition of the existing structure and to construction were handled professionally. The process and the costs associated were clearly explained at the front end and all billings were clear, concise and consistent. Our home was complete May, 2022. While there was a punch list it was minimal and was attended to in an orderly manner. The interior of the home had substantial built-ins which were executed and completed by Scott in first class form and fit.
